Mapping Legal Hypertext Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
A significant problem with hypertext systems is that the tracing of links between information is vexatious. A knowledge of the links that exist is important because the information may require to be updated to take into account changes in the law. Traditional structured methods of mapping have proved to be ineffective at mapping hypertext systems, so this paper looks at computer science data models as an alternative solution. An examination is made of the hierarchical, network and relational data models and conclusions drawn as to their relative merits for the task of mapping legal hypertext systems.

Expert System Meets Hypertext: The European Conflicts Guide
Abstract: This paper describes an attempt to integrate an expert system with a hypertext database of relevant primary and secondary text materials. The domain of law represented is that of the Brussels Convention 1968. Three dimensions of system development are addressed. With regard to the legal dimension, the choice of domain and the representation of both knowledge and data are considered. O...
متن کاملHypertext - New Paradigms in Legal Education
Hypertext and Hypermedia require no assumptions as to the nature of law, nor any rule formalism; they are a "quick and dirty" method of presenting material legal or otherwise. Until now hypertext has lacked a theoretical foundation. Some might argue that this is one of its greatest virtues, in that building Hypertext requires no grand theory. However, Critical Theory, in particular Derridian/Fo...

متن کاملGHMI: A General Hypertext Data Model Supporting Integration of Hypertext and Information Systems
We present a general hypertext data model supporting the integration (GHMI) of hypertext and information systems. The information systems benefit from hypertext functionality while preserving their computation capabilities. Although systems supporting integration of hypertext and display-oriented information systems do exist, no model or system effectively supports integrating hypertext and com...
متن کاملAn Experimental Hypermedia Tool for Legal Documentation
1. Legal Documentation and its Sources Legal documentation seems to be particularly suitable for hypertext applications because it deals with texts which by their very nature are highly correlated, both explicitly and implicitly: legislation refer to other legislation, court decisions interpret legislation or refer to other decisions, legal authority comments both case law and legislation. Ther...
